Exhibition Statement 

Sign Here explores the symbols of Melbourne. From graffiti to branding, Mark Bo Chu applies his painterly style to highlight the visual poetry of urban environments. The texture of his subjects interplays with the paint application, while sky, road and electric wires remain constant motifs. Human subjects are caught unposed, as is traffic, and still objects radiate life. The incidental text has its meaning recontextualized as Chu’s artworks become signs.
